This template is for nonprofit boards and hiring committees looking to recruit an Executive Director who can lead a remote, global team with clarity, accountability, and heart. In a nonprofit setting, this role blends strategic thinking, operational management, and external relationship-building — all in service of a mission.

The Executive Director holds both the big picture and the day-to-day, ensuring that staff are supported, the organization is financially sustainable, and the mission is visibly advancing.

To customize this template for your organization:

  • Update the mission, impact areas, and values in the “About the Organization” section
  • Adjust responsibilities to reflect your current size, structure, and strategic priorities
  • Clarify the reporting structure and key relationships (e.g. who the ED will supervise and report to)
  • Set a salary range based on your budget and location-adjusted benchmarks
  • Use the “What We’re Looking For” section to express the kind of leadership your team will thrive under
  • Benchmark salary and benefits using industry data — like Salary.com nonprofit average — and customize the compensation section accordingly

Once it’s ready, we recommend posting the role on our Job Board to reach experienced global candidates who are committed to mission-driven leadership.

About the Role
